Bulawayo, (New Ziana)- The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development is improving road maintenance and safety through expanded rehabilitation, and marking highways.
In a statement on Monday, the Ministry said government has acquired 20 road-marking machines, with two allocated to each province with urban areas expected to receive support to improve the visibility and coverage of road markings.
“Clear, visible road markings are essential for guiding motorists, protecting pedestrians and reducing road safety risks,” the Ministry said.
The initiatives form part of the government’s wider efforts to maintain the country’s road network in a good state, and make travel safer.
The Ministry said the recapitalisation programme would strengthen the capacity of road maintenance teams, while the new marking machines would support clearer guidance for motorists and pedestrians.
“Through these initiatives, government continues to strengthen road maintenance capacity and promote safer roads for all,” the Ministry said.
