Chinhoyi, — President Emmerson Mnangagwa has launched legacy projects at Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT) and officially unveiled the Presidential Ward-Based Primary Health-Care Outreach Programme as the 23rd ZANU PF National People’s Conference entered its final day on Saturday.

The launches, held on the sidelines of the ongoing conference, form part of activities preceding the official closing ceremony of the gathering, which began on October 12.

President Mnangagwa, who is also ZANU PF First Secretary, was accompanied by First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa during the day’s programme, which also featured a tree-planting exercise, a tour of exhibition stands and engagements highlighting developments in healthcare and other sectors.

The tree-planting exercise, a feature of the party’s annual conferences, underscored the importance of environmental conservation and the need to preserve the environment for future generations.

The President and the First Lady led the exercise at the university before proceeding with other scheduled activities on the sidelines of the conference.

A key highlight of the programme was the launch of the Presidential Ward-Based Primary Health-Care Outreach Programme, an initiative designed to bring essential medical services closer to communities, particularly those in remote and underserved areas.

The programme will utilise nurse-manned, three-wheeler Mobile Health Kiosks to extend primary healthcare services to communities that often face challenges accessing conventional health facilities.

Through collaboration with community health workers and links to clinics, diagnostic services, medicines and referral facilities, the initiative seeks to strengthen early detection of illnesses and improve access to timely medical attention.

The mobile units are expected to help bridge geographical barriers to healthcare by bringing initial assessments and other essential services closer to people’s homes, while connecting patients requiring further treatment to established medical facilities.

The initiative advances the national development vision of leaving no one and no place behind by extending healthcare access to communities that might otherwise struggle to obtain essential services.

President Mnangagwa also toured exhibition stands at the conference venue, where companies and organisations showcased their products, services and contributions to the country’s development.

The exhibitions provided an opportunity to highlight local enterprise, innovation and the role of different sectors in supporting national development priorities.

The legacy project launches and other activities took place as delegates prepared for the official closing ceremony of the conference, where resolutions outlining the party’s priorities for the coming year are expected to provide direction for its programmes and activities.

The 23rd ZANU PF National People’s Conference has brought party delegates together in Chinhoyi for deliberations on the party’s agenda, with the final day’s programme combining organisational business with initiatives focused on development and service delivery.                                                                                                                                                                          New Ziana
