Bulawayo, (New Ziana) – The Pre-Budget Seminar for parliamentarians which begins on Wednesday in Bulawayo will focus on proposed policy measures, sectoral priorities, budget allocations and revenue measures for consideration in the 2027 National Budget.
The Minister of Finance, Prof. Mthuli Ncube said the 2027 Budget is coming in light of the predicted El Nino phenomenon and its associated climate shocks.
“The theme for the 2027 National Budget is accelerating economic transformation and building resilience to climate shocks and global shocks.
“I will be presenting this Budget to Parliament on the 19th of November next month,” said Prof. Ncube.
He said the four-day seminar will bring together Ministries and Parliamentary Portfolio Committees to examine sector-specific funding requirements, identify national development priorities and make recommendations to inform budget formulation.
“The retreat by members of parliament is to have a discussion on the budget allocations, priority areas and revenue measures to support the various government departments and the various programmes of government,” he said.
He said the deliberations will also consider submissions from public consultations conducted by the Committee on Budget and Finance and other portfolio committees.
The seminar forms part of Parliament’s budget oversight and consultation processes and is expected to set the tone for the 2027 National Budget.
