THE countdown is over, and the stage is set for a sizzling celebration as the Castle Lager National Braai Day Festival marks its 10th edition tomorrow, Saturday, October 17, at Glamis Arena in Harare, promising a bigger and better experience blending music, food, fun and Zimbabwe’s beloved braai culture.
The milestone edition is expected to bring together thousands of revellers for a memorable day of entertainment, with dancehall heavyweight Winky D, urban grooves star Ex-Q and a host of other popular musicians lined up to set the venue alight.
Having grown into one of Zimbabwe’s prominent lifestyle and entertainment gatherings over the years, the festival is celebrating a decade of bringing people together through music, grilled delicacies and the simple pleasure of sharing good times with friends.
This year’s edition builds on that legacy, with an exciting musical line-up and interactive activities designed to give revellers more than just a concert experience.
At the centre of the musical spectacle is Winky D, whose commanding stage presence, infectious dancehall rhythms and ability to connect with audiences have made him one of Zimbabwe’s most celebrated performers.
Known for his high-energy delivery and crowd-engaging performances, the ‘Gafa’ rarely disappoints, and his appearance is expected to be one of the festival’s biggest highlights.
Joining him is Ex-Q, the urban grooves sensation renowned for his smooth vocals, memorable hits and energetic stage performances.
With a catalogue that resonates with fans across generations, Ex-Q is expected to inject nostalgia and excitement into the celebrations, reminding revellers why he remains one of the country’s enduring entertainment figures.
The line-up also features Enzo Ishall, whose catchy dancehall anthems have earned him a loyal following, and Nutty O, celebrated for his vibrant performances and infectious melodies.
Emerging performers, including Jnr Spragga and Atenda Chinx, will add fresh sounds to the occasion, while DJs are expected to keep the atmosphere lively between live performances.
But the 10th edition will be about more than music.
The festival will celebrate the art of the braai, bringing together food enthusiasts and friends over grilled delicacies, refreshments and an atmosphere of camaraderie.
The combination of live entertainment and outdoor dining has become the event’s defining feature, transforming it into a national social occasion.
One of the anticipated attractions is the Castle Braai O’Clock activation, scheduled for 3pm to 4pm, featuring a braai master competition and opportunities for participants to win branded merchandise and other prizes.
The festival’s success over the years has been built around Zimbabwe’s cherished tradition of gathering around a fire to share food, conversation and laughter.
Castle Lager has elevated this familiar social ritual into a large-scale celebration that draws together people from different backgrounds through a shared appreciation of music and braai culture.
Previous editions have featured prominent local and regional entertainers and attracted sizeable crowds, helping cement the festival’s place on Zimbabwe’s entertainment calendar.
The 10th edition provides an opportunity to celebrate that journey while giving revellers another reason to look forward to the annual gathering.
Tickets have been advertised through SahwiGate, with standard admission listed at US$15, although prospective attendees should confirm the latest prices and availability through the ticketing platform.
The event is strictly for adults aged 18 and above.
With preparations culminating ahead of tomorrow’s festivities, anticipation is building for a landmark celebration where Winky D’s dancehall fire, Ex-Q’s infectious energy and the sounds of Zimbabwean music will meet the unmistakable aroma of meat sizzling on the grill.
As the festival celebrates its 10th edition, the promise is clear: a decade of braai, music and togetherness deserves a fitting celebration, and Glamis Arena is poised to become the centre of the festivities.
