Bindura, (New Ziana) – Music lovers in Bindura are in for a lively night as an array of Zimbabwean performers prepares to take over Chipadze Stadium on Saturday for an all-night musical gala to mark the 2026 Anti-Sanctions Solidarity Day.

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) designated October 25 as Anti-Sanctions Day in solidarity with Zimbabwe which has faced a crippling blockade from West over its land reforms.

The day is marked by a variety of activities in Zimbabwe and elsewhere in the SADC region.

This year, the Anti-Sanctions Day is being commemorated in Bindura, where a musical gala will close off the commemorations.

The show promises a mix of musical generations and styles, bringing together sungura favourites, contemporary musicians, Zimdancehall acts and traditional dance performers in a programme expected to keep the crowd on its feet well into Sunday morning.

Among the acts expected to draw attention are Andy Muridzo, Mark Ngwazi, Obert Chari, Jah Master, Jeys Marabini, Clement Magwaza, Iyasa and veteran musician Tanga wekwa Sando.

Muridzo, known for his fusion of contemporary sounds and traditional Zimbabwean musical influences, will be one to watch.

The singer has built a following through songs such as Dherira and Chidhafudhunda, while his lively stage delivery and energetic interaction with audiences makes him a compelling live performer. His ability to move around the stage, engage fans and bring animation to his music could make his set one of the evening’s highlights.

Sungura fans will also have reason to celebrate with Mark Ngwazi on the bill. The musician has developed a distinctive identity by combining danceable sungura rhythms with humour and entertaining performances. Obert Chari, whose music appeals to audiences across different backgrounds, is also expected to add to the night’s variety.

For Zimdancehall followers, Jah Master is among the major attractions. His hit Hello Mwari became a recognisable song on Zimbabwe’s contemporary music scene, and his appearance offers fans an opportunity to enjoy his infectious rhythms in a live setting.

The programme will also showcase the cultural richness of Matabeleland through Jeys Marabini, Clement Magwaza and Iyasa. Marabini’s Afro-jazz sound brings a different musical texture, while Magwaza is known for his lively stage presence. Iyasa, meanwhile, is celebrated for its choreographed performances combining dance, movement and music.

Veteran trumpeter Tanga wekwa Sando is expected to appeal to fans who appreciate Zimbabwe’s established musical traditions. Other performers include Admire “Chief Hwenje” Shumba, Bio Mudimba, Shantel Sithole, Delroy Shewe, Atenda Chinx, Bigboy Motsi, Last “Tambaoga” Chiyangwa, Guruve Marimba Ensemble and the Police Band.

The gala follows daytime activities and exhibitions linked to the national commemorations, which are being held under the theme, “Leveraging Regional Integration and Global Partnerships for Economic Transformation beyond Illegal Sanctions.”
